The ASTRONAUT TRAINING EXPERIENCE (ATX) at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex was designed, built and installed by Weber Group Inc., in partnership with Delaware North Corporation, with involvement from NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).
The ATX was designed at the intersection of entertainment and education, seeking to achieve the highest standards in both categories.
Once trained the rookie astronauts board the MARS TRANSIT VEHICLE, a 4D theater experience that ferries passengers from Earth to Mars. Upon arrival, the airlock opens into a fully-realized MARS BASE 1, complete with a Robotics Lab, an Operations Lab, a fully-functional Mess Hall and a Botany lab with a working greenhouse. There they conduct experiments in conjunction with real ongoing NASA research and work as a team to develop solutions critical to survival on another world.
All content in the ATX is personalized to the user, from their access badge to their interactive content. Through immersive individual experiences, participants become part of the story of space travel to Mars.
At the ASTRONAUT TRAINING EXPERIENCE, we intend to educate, entertain and engage guests in a lasting fashion to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, space travelers and dreamers.
