When their shantytowns are threatened with mass eviction, three ‘young lions’ of South Africa’s new generation rise from the shacks and take their government to the highest court in the land, putting the promises of democracy to the test. DEAR MANDELA is a coming-of-age story about the new generation of born-free leaders emerging to continue Mandela’s struggle for equality.
The feature length documentary Directed by Dara Kell and Christopher Nizza, premiered at the Durban International Film Festival in South Africa on July 26, 2011 where it was awarded the 'Best South African Documentary' prize, and will continue to show at international film festivals.
