Patricia Piccinini, one of Australia's most internationally recognised contemporary artists and Joy Hester (1920-60), the pivotal female artist of Melbourne’s ‘Heide circle’ and one of Australia's most celebrated modernists, are presented together in the world first exhibition, Patricia Piccinini & Joy Hester: Through love … at TarraWarra Museum of Art.
Running from 24 November 2018 – 11 March 2019, the exhibition includes more than 50 works on the themes of love and intimacy, including a major new sculpture by Piccinini and rarely-seen works by Hester, revealing the incredible spectrum of human and non-human relationships from romantic love and maternal devotion through to the connections formed between humans and animals, and animate and inanimate objects.
To celebrate the launch of the exhibition, Patricia Piccinini's iconic floating sculpture Skywhale 2013 took to the skies of the Yarra Valley on 22 November 2018.
