In 2017 the Air Force announced plans to take 300,000 acres from the Desert National Wildlife Refuge in Southern Nevada for use as a bombing range and military training ground.
This short video explores the beauty of the Refuge and introduces two distinctly different artists who have drawn inspiration from this magnificent place.
Produced by Backcountry Pictures for Friends of Nevada Wilderness and their campaign to Save the Desert National Wildlife Refuge. The campaign was also joined by members of the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe and mainstream environmental groups - Sierra Club and Center for Biodiversity. In 2021, language that would have completed the transfer of land to the Air Force was stripped from the Defense Authorization Act and the Refuge was saved.
