At the VOTF Conference Oct. 6, Fr. Bill Clark, Associate Professor in the Dept. of Religious Studies at Holy Cross University (Worcester MA), spoke about responding to the challenges facing today's Church "from within our Christian DNA." Clericalism arises from a suspect theology, he noted; "we need instead to be a People of God." Authority cannot be assumed simply from one's position, and the focus in the Church should not be on the clergy but on all the faithful. "Jesus is the consummate lay person," he added.
