An inspirational graduation speech for the Class of 2010
Yesterday, we went to visit one of Pablo Neruda's houses
And a verse caught my attention that read as follows
"We, we who were then, we are no longer the same"
And reflecting on this beautiful verse
Today expands the windows through which we view life, through which we see the world
We leave here today without motivation, because motivation is temporary
We leave inspired, because inspiration lasts forever
Thank you teachers we are inspired because your teachings left a mark
And a teaching that leaves a mark is not the one which happens from head to head
But from heart to heart, and so it was
That long trip, your preparation and leaving your family for some days
Requires sacrifice, effort and heart
We can tell that you love what you do
Without realizing you taught us a new lesson, which in Latin says
“Cela que tu fais, te fait" (What you do, it makes you)
You turned on that light and now it is on us make it reflect
And we have learned not only from our teachers
We also learned through sharing with our peers
There is a proverb by Solomon which says...
"The iron sharpens with iron, and the man in dealing with another man"
And thanks friends for letting us learn from each other
Thank you Maria Jose for teaching us to be authentic
Lisa, thanks for teaching us tolerance
Ana Rosa, thanks for teaching us dedication and excellence
Thank you Jose for being an unconditional friend and teaching us loyalty
Thank you Pedro for he always had that enthusiasm
And Eduardo for teaching us your values and integrity
Sandra, thanks for showing us the right path at all times
Andres, thanks for teaching us to be unique
Thank you Carlos for always bringing that passion
Rafael, thanks for always being honest and teaching us that there is always another point of view
Anabella, thanks for teaching us sincerity
Thank you Ana Mercedes for teaching us to persevere for what our heart desires
Cynthia, thanks for teaching us respect
And Monica for teaching us that it is easy to be a friend
Thank you Roberto showing us commitment and maturity
Thank you Florence for teaching us to care for others
Thank you Juancho for your nobility and showing us how to always be happy like a child
Thanks to Fausto also, even though he is not here today
Fausto taught us... Fabio sorry!
I always called him Fausto!
Fabio taught us…
He was always the first to offer a hand
And he taught us how to share without any self-interest
and well, thank you ALL you friends
Now we are considered friends until proven otherwise
I thank God for this blessing and this great opportunity that He gave us
Let’s give a big applause to the Class of 2010 from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile!
