he SPACE Age Sirens, a choir of senior women from the East End led by Laka D, sung excerpts from washing machine user manuals. We recorded them and arranged the songs in a 5.1 surround sound environment.
The work with the SPACE Age Sirens pokes fun at the technobabble and nannying tone of user manuals. As the choir instructs us on the operation of washing machines, so they remind us that, in the space age, common sense has never been so urgently needed.
