Ajahn Kevali kindly offered to lead one day of practice with Precepts and Meditation at Dhammagiri on Saturday. At the final session he opens up to any questions or issues participants may have encountered.
He tells us the story of Ven Cūla Panthaka, one of the great disciples of the Buddha, who initially found it difficult to memorize any of the Buddha's teachings. However, the Buddha gave him a suitably simple meditation object, and applying himself wholeheartedly to it, Ven Cūla Panthaka developed 'bhāvanā-mayā-paññā' ('wisdom based on meditation') that transcended mere intellectual reasoning, and he attained full awakening together with outstanding phsycic powers.
Ajahn Kevali has been the abbot of Wat Pah Nanachat (Ajahn Chah's monastery for foreign monks) since 2008.
