Chain reactions, kinetic installations and marble tracks make the blood of the designers at HeyHeydeHaas run quicker.
Dutch art space Kunsthal Kade asked the team early 2018 to participate in their exhibition A Balancing Act. More specifically, by way of building an installation.
We jumped at the opportunity and started sketching on what would become one of our most intricate kinetic installations to date: 50/50.
To keep with the theme of balance we decided to try and build an installation in which a 50 eurocent coin would travel a ridiculously long way on its side. The whole thing would -of course- have to be practically invisible.
Months of designing and testing later we ended up with 100 meters of custom cut clear acrylic track, around 140 meters of clear acrylic tubing, 120 custom designed, 3D printed plugs and over 60 steel feet. Oh, and one whole week to build it.
