In the face of increasing global diversity, integration, and inequality, contemporary education faces many challenges. Among those challenges is teaching citizen engagement in an effort to create positive social change. How can we pass along the tools and skills which allow student's to succeed in our global reality? How can we teach student's to engage and create social change in their community and in the world?
Inspired by the global solidarity of October 15, 2011, and a lecture attended by Zygmunt Bauman, on that same day, in Madrid, Spain, Teaching Global Solidarity is a reflection on teaching and learning in the global village and on participating in the transformation of our world into a more just, sustainable, and equitable planet.
