LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) is an aerial LASER scanning technology being used to better understand the Chacoan Landscape. LASER pulses from an airplane create a point cloud of a landscape surface. Then, a visual rendering can be made like this one of the Pueblo Alto landscape, on the north rim of Chaco Canyon.
Watch as sunlight is simulated to come from every direction (including north, which it never does in the Northern Hemisphere), so that every ancient Chacoan road becomes visible.
