With Jordan having to buckle down on some law school and Bloody having some personal stuff come up, I decided to sit down with the web cam and a mic to go through some of the moto news. The Monster Energy Cup really was a lot of fun to watch and set a new precedence for the amount of money a dirt bike racer can win in a single night of racing. Mike Brown saw a perfect weekend racing the Race Town 395 WORCS and Cameron Ishmael won another TORN Overall.
The Monster Energy Cup, which was held at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, NV, was a feat to watch. For us in the Central timezone, it ran into the night a little too much. But being able to watch all the heat's, semi's and LCQ before all the main's was great. The ability to watch all of the racing action opposed to just being able to see the main's was a great highlight.
Ryan Villopoto took advantage of the million dollar purse and swept all three mains. He looked fast and focused all night, and really only had trouble getting out front quick in the third main. Ryan Dungey came out to race on his new KTM 450. He had a very impressive performance, second is nothing to scoff at, on a bike he has only been riding and testing on for 2 weeks. Brett Metcalfe rounded out the podium in third by being consistent all night long. This was a great event and the ads during the show lead us to think it'll be back next year.
Race Town 395 hosted round 9 of the WORCS series this past weekend. Mike Brown had what they are calling 'The Perfect Race' at round 9 by getting both moto holeshots, leading every lap in both motos and by winning both the Saturday and the Sunday moto. With the talent in the Pro class at a WORCS event, this is a pretty big deal. Kurt Caselli was battling for a bit, but had a pretty good crash he had to recover from to finish 8th on Saturday. Bobby Garrison was back on the podium after returning from his injury and Justin Soule earned enough points to finish third on the weekend. Caselli still holds the points lead, but Brown has closed that gap.
With all the rain we have been receiving in Texas, there were again many racers looking forward to getting out and racing. Round 9 of the TORN series was in Dublin, TX and from what we have heard, the track was really fun. Cameron Ishmael and Caleb Ramsey were battling again for the lead and this lead to some great racing for the fans. Ishmael found another way to stay in front of Ramsey to secure the win.
Coming up we have a few races to watch for. The Ironman GNCC is taking place in Crawfordsville, IN and always proves to be a tough race. Round 6 of the Endurocross Series is happening in Boise, ID and Taddy Blazusiak is looking to win 6 in a row. The last round of the National Hare & Hound is going on in Lucerne, CA where we are sure Kendall Norman is looking to gain another win. Locally we have the TCCRA Buffalo Creek round just north of Canton, TX. We're sure Cameron Ishmael is looking to prove his title and grab another win.
Well, thanx again for tuning and I hope the shorter, more low key format was to your liking. We'll have another full episode up next week and some news for the future. Have a great week, ride hard and remember to always enjoy a Pint Full of Awesome.
