On the morning of 25 December 2018 a rare formation of Polar Stratospheric Clouds was visible from the town of Steenwijk (north-eastern part of The Netherlands). The movie shows the PSC between 0853 and 0926 UTC. These clouds could only exist when the air temperature is around minus 80 degrees Celsius or lower. Sometimes very colourful segments are formed, with vivid iridescent colours. That's why their name also is mentioned as Mother-of-Pearl clouds or nacreous clouds. In The Netherlands these clouds are extremely rare. In last 35 years this cloud type has been seen there only three times.
