Paralel to 12th Istanbul Biennial,artist Gul Cagin, insearch of finding the most absurd space to have a picnic, went to Kucukarmutlu, a gecekondu area. She found a very uncomfortable space to inhabit, a norrow corridor in between two houses. During the performance,she listed well known, poetic Istanbul street names and after that, in opposite direction, she tried to name her picnic area with crude slum realism , establishing a dialog between the unrestrained mighty urban development and the underdeveloped areas where lower income families live. On the one side, preying developers and on the other side psychologically bruised inhabitants who are haunted by recent disastrous demolition and forcible relocation of Sulukule people.
