Change can be hard. It usually is a choice between doing the right thing and hanging onto some stronghold that keeps you in your comfort zone. When Jesus came across a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth, Matthew saw it as an imperitive to change himself. 'Follow me,' he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. (Mat 9:9)
At that point Matthew took his first steps as a believer. Once a person becomes a believer, They become a new creation and are ready to start growing spiritually. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths."
"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." (1 Peter 5:8) To fail in this is to sign up to become the lion's lunch".
