Being retired doesn't mean the fun has to stop! The University of Michigan Retiree Association (UMRA) is a group for any retired faculty or staff member of the University of Michigan. It helps them remain connected to the university and with one another with events, trips and organized get togethers.
Kohlitz was hired to create a promotional animation highlighting these features and energizing its' base. The pace, colors, friendliness of the graphics, and choice of animating the characters doing lively activities was all made in mind with the idea of showing retirement can be fun and active! We had fun drawing and animating graphics of many parts of Michigan to emphasize UMRA's local and active involvement. From Ann Arbor's Michigan Theater to the Mackinac Bridge to the "Spirit of Detroit" sculpture, these are all icons any Michigander would recognize.
And hey, if you yourself are a UM faculty or staff and are about to retire, consider joining UMRA! umra.hr.umich.edu/
