The program starts with a self-assessment of the rescuers proficiencies in core competencies and then helps identify a customized path for Rescuers’ to improve themselves, their knowledge and skills.
The program emphasizes the key stages to rescue: Extraction, Transfer, Patient Assessment, Packaging and Lowering. These areas of focus are taught in detail over the course of one week. Each participant in the IPS Rescue Class is tested on their understanding of proper rescue protocol as well as knot craft and evolution rescue exercises.
This IPS Rescue Class was conducted on the Battleship Texas. Battleship Texas took part in some of the most significant naval battles of the 20th century during both world wars. Now docked along the Houston Ship Channel, she serves as a memorial to those turbulent times.
