The Artifacts of Life is another inspired creation from Crackpot Crafters, an Olympia, WA based group founded by Devon Damonte that meets once a month to construct hand made direct animation cameraless motion graphic projects. In this offering, Devon Damonte, Caryn Cline, Linda Busta, Jim Hill, Dory Nies, Kelsey Smith, Kevin Jacobs, Jason Gutz & Meesh Rheault Miller all contributed multiple 16 mm film loops of various organic/once-living material that was then spliced together to create the film. Jim Hill then digitized the result and edited it to a soundtrack sampled from Robert Rich’s “Deconstructions” & “Liquid Air”, both from his CD “Music from Atlas Dei”. The diverse materials used in this project are detailed in the program shown below. The film premiered on July 27, 2011 at the Northern in downtown Olympia.
