The Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) are pleased to announce the launch of Daily Rush, an online exhibition platform hosted at mocadetroit.org. Developed in partnership with Daata Editions.
Daily Rush is a unique opportunity to reimagine how a museum presents contemporary moving image and experimental media across a wide spectrum of locations. This new program is the first in a series of core projects extending from a special grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, which supports MOCAD in experimenting with technology and new media to engage regional and international audiences, both inside and outside the Museums' walls. As an initial step in MOCAD's extended commitment to digital initiatives, Daily Rush takes this effort first to the web.
The first season of Daily Rush—titled Inherent Affinities—will present six recent works of experimental media, sound, and moving image. Once a month, Daily Rush will exhibit works intended for screens, monitors and mobile devices by artists Sofie Alsbo, Holly Blakey, Phoebe Boswell, Jillian Mayer, Rashaad Newsome, and Tin Ojeda.
Throughout these works, and in disparate ways, the body and the screen are dual protagonists—they compete with another for a starring role, and out-of-body experiences drive their storylines.
Beginning February 2019, these six instalments of Inherent Affinities will be presented online at mocadetroit.org/daily-rush.
