In this episode of Bekah Speaks, Numeracle’s Rebekah Johnson explains the TRACED (Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence) Act. Introduced by U.S. Sens. John Thune and Ed Markey, this legislation calls for voice service providers to adopt call authentication technology, in the form of the STIR/SHAKEN authentication framework, within a set timeline.
Why this is important: today, when a truly fraudulent call is being delivered to a consumer’s phone THERE IS NO WAY to trace that call back through the network to the illegal actor who placed the call, thus making it very difficult for the FCC and FTC to know who to go after.
