Sunday, January 20, 2019. First Baptist Church, Burlington, Kansas. Pastor Jay Hale. This sermon talks about God as the God who sees el Roi (pronounced El Raw’-ee). In Genesis 16:1-15 we read the story where Hagar (Sarah’s Egyptian handmaiden) left Sarah and fled to the wilderness. As she and her son were on the verge of death due to lack of water, Hagar God saw Hagar’s stress and opened Hagar’s eyes to see a well of water nearby. God then told Hagar to return to Sarah and serve her. Hagar called the God as The God who sees (El Roi) her in her time of need. God sees us today, from the time of our conception through our entire life. Through this story, we see God sees, hears, and cares for us.
