Doubtless we will see the stats of this trip and mostly it was downhill – and on slippery and stony ground - hence the many bruises, bumps and scratches! However once the pain of the lesson is over, we are left with memories of the chestnut trees, pine forests and strangely sandy and tricky surface with lumps of lava to content with. Our trip took us half way round the volcano’s summit, starting from the south side (Nicolosi) to Randazzo in the north. The experience is different from any we have in Malta – the altitude, constant fast riding downhill and the lava landscape. Again The Sprockets’ values – camaraderie, assistance to those in need and friendship won the day and we should be proud of our trip. We cycled for approximately 38km.
