October 9, 2011 Citizens in Stony River Township, after successfully gaining support from local residents and unanimous support of the Township board, held this informational meeting to explain the very significant down side to Non-Ferrous Mining in Minnesota.
Minnesota Citizens have been confronted with antiquated Minnesota laws favoring Mining Companies over private land owners when mining companies began demanding access to their lands for exploration and potential mining. Minnesota, a VERY "Mining Friendly State," owns most of the mineral rights on private land. State officials will point out the acquisition of such was all legal and has been managed for the benefit of the state.
