Sycamore (dancing poetry), on the Road is a work inspired by the Situationist movement in the 1960s. It follows the Situationist's playful approach and aims at transforming the urban subject from a passive flâneur to a player actively intervening in and reshaping urban space. The player might as well be a poet. Enormous words colored white are painted on the surface of roads designed for vehicle traffics, to guide and warn drivers. These banal and mundane white characters have become literally the 'text' in Hong Kong urbanscape, despite largely hidden from pedestrian's sight. This installation is directed to create a ground for participants to interact with these words and the hidden grounds. Participants are invited toco-produce urban poetry and poetic urban milieu through this interactive work.
