The early Sundays in Ordinary Time introduce the ministry of Jesus. Father Lou reminded us how our bodies do many important things without our need to send reminders – things like breathing and seeing and digesting. Our body has many parts that integrate to work as one. Paul’s description of the Body of Christ reminds us that we are bonded together just like our own heart and sight and lungs. We are Christ to everyone. His mission informs our mission as followers of Christ. WE are to give glad tidings to the lowly, release to prisoners, and to announce days of favor. In today’s words, this means feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, healthcare to all who are in need and welcome to immigrants and refugees. So, do we recognize that we are the body of Christ?
We come together as a community with an “Amen!” which acknowledges our commitment to the mission of Christ. We are to represent Christ to the other that we encounter and to recognize Christ that is in us.
