This experiment is part of a series titled Cinematic Experiments created by Margie Medlin.
Experiments No.19A, D and E are an iterative exploration into the three-dimensional frame or the frame as sculpture. The processes for the creation of the library crossed the boundaries of analogue film and digital video. Much of the original film is created with a16mm film recorded on a Bolex or a Krasnogorsk-3 Russian 16mm movie camera which I hand processed at LaborBerlin.
Experiment No.19A, D and E explores the frame as a malleable container in which the shape and size of the images can change according to the aesthetic needs of the artist. In this way, it is a derivation of what Eisenstein called "The Dynamic Square" A frame that does not accept landscape as the status quo but rather adjusts to inform the dramatic needs of a story.
