This video presents the space dedicated to electric energy in the arts produced for 3rd Tiblisi triennial.
The works examine electrification of the city, and how this objective industrialization process reflects on individuals and specifically on artistic practice. This position produces a field of research on the process of electrification from the infrastructure and structure of the city and simultaneously, from the change in every day life of people.
Electricity is examined both as a form of energy and a technology. Painting surface by the hand and brush, sculpture by shaping volume by the hand and tool, dance by the entire body in movement, all use energy originating from within the human body. Electricity comes from the outside and can be used as a powerful energy to produce motion, sound wave, light, temperature, and as well as to actualize software in digital platforms. Electricity materializes its potentialities to reach the sensible. Electricity, as a form of energy, operates as a very special material in art production.
How the implementation of electricity impacted every day life? Does electricity activate a new will in artistic practice ?
These question were the starting for the research and artwork production.
