At the operational head of Dorchester Collection 9 iconic hotels spread all over the world, François Delahaye proves unique management successful experiences. He talks here with Elke Büchter about the real impact of Villegiature Awards.
Why the fact that only very selected efficient and powerful journalists from all over the world vote, by secret ballot, is a unique asset and a very strong point for hotels.
And why the fact that hoteliers cannot not be jury members (to avoid judge and jury conflicts) , neither customers (to avoid uncontrolled multi votes abuses) , nor travel agents ( who have financial interests in enlighting some of their hotel partners who may not be the best) : by refusing those facilities Villegiature Awards are also unique, because it prevents significant financial supports also.
François Delahaye for Paris palace hotel Plaza Athénée - where he is physically based as Dorchester Collection C.O.O - received nearly every year a Villégiature Award since 2004, and the success of Le Plaza in Paris always increases year after year.
When he is not in Paris, François travels all over the world several times a year to see how each of the 9 hotels evolves, and also for eventual new Dorchester Collection projects in Europe of course but also in the americas, in Middle-East and in Asia. For Dorchester Collection he never stops benchmarking and developping.
