The legal medical cannabis program in Minnesota became a point of contention at the back-to-back press conferences held by Smart Approaches to Marijuana MN (SAMMn) and the Minnesotans Against Prohibition (MAP) Coalition at the State Capitol on January 16, 2019.
When Dakota County Sheriff Tim Leslie expressed his opinion that the MN medical cannabis program was working well, he got laughed into silence by people that know better. The response was so undeniable that prohibitionist Ken Winters recalculated his "smart" approach to lobbying for continuing prohibition in MN.
Then we got to hear from Minnesotans that have experience with the MN Medical Cannabis Program. Katy Cummings- Balko, Paul Johnson, and Tom Edwards set the record straight. The program is too expensive, too limited, and too under funded. The main problem is the status of cannabis at the national level. That is why disabled American veterans like Tom are harrassed by the VA. That is why states like Minnesota cintinue to waste money on opioids while not being allowed to fund medical cannabis. That is why people are frustrated and speak truth to the BS promoted by organizations like SAMMn.
