When two like-minded creatives come together, brilliance can happen. Creative director Leo Jung and photography director Jackie Bates embody this phenomenon—combining trust, passion and purpose to create The California Sunday, an award-winning magazine. In/Visible Talks co-founder Arianna Orland will sit down with both creative dynamos to delve into their unique partnership, the magazine and their perspectives on effective collaboration.
Jacqueline is Photography Director of The California Sunday Magazine, which won the National Magazine Award for excellence in photography two years in a row, in 2016 and 2017, and Pop-Up Magazine. Previously, she was senior photo editor of W Magazine and worked in the photo departments of ELLE, Interview, and Wired. Bates holds an MFA in photography from the School of Visual Arts, and her work has been exhibited internationally
Leo Jung is Creative Director for the acclaimed live series Pop-Up Magazine and The California Sunday Magazine, which won the Society of Publication Design’s award for Magazine of the Year in 2018. He is the former design director at Wired and deputy art director at The New York Times Magazine. His work has been recognized by the Art Directors Club, Type Directors Club, and the Society of Publication Designers.
