Robert is a bookish entry-level office clerk waiting for a to-go order of food outside a neighborhood cafe. While getting a breath of fresh air and staring into space he's accosted by Bradley, a jaundiced head with eyes like drains who begins berating him with petty insults disguised as good advice. With a mixture of pathos and humor the film explores the uncomfortable feeling of being put on the spot, having to maintain one's composure while confronting an unpleasant situation. Ideally the subdued tone and deliberate use of negative space will oblige the viewer to inhabit the same odd netherworld as the characters. "I believe this is a kind film," explains Andrae, "but it's geared for long attention spans."
