Created as part of my first ever art show, this project uses distance sensors to create interesting musical tones based on a simple 2-channel FM synthesizer called Auduino.
Each board contains an ATMega328 programmed with a modified version of the Auduino firmware, and can easily be used with any kind of analog sensor as input. For the show, I chose to use three distance sensors so that visitors can walk around the piece and alter the musical tones using their presence.
A full write-up about how the piece was made, including diagrams, schematics, notes and pictures can be found here: cs.unk.edu/~webb/2011/09/diy-synthesizer-boards-using-atmega328s-and-auduino/
