A conservative approach to treat pectus deformities, or anterior chest wall deformities, was introduced by Sydney Haje, MD, in the United Kingdom in 2010. Sydney Haje and Davi Haje are orthopaedic surgeons from Brasilia, Brazil. In 2011 Sydney Haje returned to London and delivered a lecture at the Royal Society of Medicine. Mr. David Harrinson, a spinal surgeon from the UK, introduced Haje's work, calling it "trully revolutionary". The words of Mr. Harrinson also called attention to the psychosocial aspect of the pathology, "which sometimes is either misinterpreted, poorly understood or simply ignored."
