I met Francis for the first time more than ten years ago in his small village in the south of France called Bellecombe-Tarendol. Nested in the pre-alps, it is an idyllic, quiet and peaceful place. Francis, 55 years old now, has told me many stories of his youth, as he was raised among 8 brothers and sisters, struggling to make a living. With nothing more than his strong arms and his wilful mind, Francis built over the years a respectable farm producing cherries, apricots, plums, lavender and grapes. Every summer, the little streets of the village fill with young seasonal workers, who come to help at the farm. Francis has always been a hard worker, raising early in the morning and going to sleep late at night. And when he's not out in the fields, he's helping his two sons set up their own business.
