On November 15, 2011 the ASU Art Museum hosted a High School Video/Film Project. Local high schools submitted videos in response to the exhibition "Juan Downey: The Invisible Architect." The students were provided the following information:
Juan Downey recorded his interactions with diverse and remote cultures in his travels through the Americas. Downey immigrated to the United States at an early age, and his video project "Trans Americas" was a means for self-discovery and to confront his own culture as well as a way to provide an opportunity for the cultures he met to involve themselves as the subject and the participants.
What traditions are important to your family? What defines who you are? How would you describe your culture, its past and its future?
Please enjoy the submissions from Metro Arts High School in Phoenix, Ariz., and Tesseract Schools in Phoenix, Ariz.
