-|- Dance -|- Strategic Air Command exists as a multi-part installation consisting of an overturned, stripped down helicopter cockpit outfitted with a green disco laser. The laser pulsates inside the cockpit to the beat of the music in the videos projected nearby - a compilation of infrared police helicopter footage and my own found and recorded footage of rave and dance club scenes. When archiving the dance club footage I searched for instances where the intensity of the lasers etched or corrupted the CCD chip of the recording cameras - often causing an entire line or cross section of pixels to be lost. The lost cross sections of visual information in the dance footage formally echo the central cross hairs present in the police footage, connecting all the images to the deliberate action of targeting and the potential of escalating conflict.
