This is the second Kickstarter campaign we've worked on with Wynd. The first one we did raised over $600k.
The process started with an information gathering call to understand all about their new products: Wynd Halo + Wynd Home Purifier. We learned about the overall market and their target customer. The challenge was how to communicate so many things in a short video: The Halo controls the Home Purifier but can also control other devices in your home. This allows the device to "make" environments ideal for certain activities - like turning up the air purifier and lowering the temperature during exercise.
After we were on-boarded, we started creating concepts and writing scripts. The metaphor of a fish in a bowl of water being like humans in a room full of air started coming to the forefront. We ran with it. We went back and forth with Wynd at least a half-dozen times before we had script lock and could move into production.
Production took place in one, 12-hour day. Not sure if it comes through in the video, but the apartment we used was about 600 sq. ft. This is where expertise in lens choice and propping/framing comes in. We chose such a small place because we knew we had a huge shot list and only 12 hours - we couldn't afford big moves around a location.
