Le Bon Ton is the hipster hotel that fails the pub test. Hospo Voice, the hospitality union, analysed payslips and rosters of four workers at Le Bon Ton and related venues and found that together they had about $20,000 stolen from them.
Former bartender Jess Perry is owed an estimated $5000 by Le Bon Ton’s owners, a company owned by brothers Will & Mick Balleau from Albuquerque New Mexico.
Ms Perry received an email from Le Bon Ton's accountant with a spreadsheet confirming she had been underpaid by at least $4,134.32 and received an assurance she would be paid in the next pay run. But the money never came. And after almost three years, she's still waiting to be paid.
What this is, is theft. But hospo bosses just keep getting away with it.
Jess wants to see these wage thieves held to account for how they treat their staff. The watchdog needs to take serious action against these guys.
