This video work evokes the archetype of a rose window, signified as a phyllotaxis spiral or sunflower seed head. A museum piece - a working gouache drawing, for a piece of Tunbridge Ware is fractured through drawing - drawn line fattens, obliterating underlying visual data at a speed barely discernible to the human eye. Just as the sun moves imperceptibly across the sky, these drawn lines widen without attention. A metaphor perhaps… Leaves and roses rendered as virtual marquetry rotate, change colour kaleidoscopically and become through drawing a starscape. Be prepared for very slow motion!
