I've come to learn that my MacBook Pro takes approximately 9 years to transcode a full scene of full-resolution RED .R3D files into useable 2k ProRes files, so I guess it's time to upgrade.
This is a reboot of a scene from the move "Steele Magnolias," for the directing workshop course. I threw the cut and color together in about 2 1/2 hours because I wanted the rest of a the crew to see what an excellent job they did. Mad props to everyone, especially those who were either operating the RED or lighting something like this outside for the first time. It was really fun.
I opted to use the Canon EF 24-105 ƒ/4L lens because we had extremely limited time to do our setups, and the Canon lens mount that we have takes a significant amount of time to recalibrate anytime a lens change occurs. For this reason, I opted for zoom glass rather than prime, to eliminate several steps during a camera setup.
