The Timothy Taylor Gallery in Carlos Place, Mayfair, opened its doors with a show by renowned post-war American painter, Alex Katz. The light and elegant gallery sits within the shell of a former bank building located just off Grosvenor Square in the Mayfair Conservation Area. The space is designed as a neutral backdrop to the art on display and can accommodate very large two and three dimensional works of art. The total scheme occupies 615 square metres, including viewing rooms, office space, painting storage, staff facilities and a workshop. Spread over ground and lower ground floors, the public and private areas are linked by a solid oak staircase. This is the second gallery to be designed by Eric Parry Architects for the Timothy Taylor Gallery.
