Athens. Amsterdam. Alphaville. Three cities. Three cars. Three stories of people who lose their way.The fact that two of the cities are on the map while the third is purely cinematic is neither a random choice nor a mere tribute to Godard's Alphaville (1965). It rather goes to show that in alpha the editing plays with the limits between fictional space and geographical data, abolishes the difference between here and elsewhere and indifferently mixes what came before and what happened after. A roam movie rather than a road movie, alpha is a paradoxical map drawn to make one lose rather than find one's way.
