This video is part of a series marking our 70th anniversary and showcasing the many ways the Council of Europe is working to improve the lives of over 800 million Europeans in our 47 member states. Each video invites viewers to imagine a world in which currently existing rights or protections in a specific area were suddenly taken away, and to inspire them to join the fight for the full acquisition of rights which have not yet been achieved.
In 2019 the Council of Europe is marking 70 years since the Foreign Ministers of Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom signed the Treaty establishing the Organisation on 5 May 1949, at St James’s Palace, London.Find out more here : coe.int/70
