Aljoša Dekleva and Tina Gregorič founded Dekleva Gregorič Arhitekti in 2003 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Both architects graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ljubljana and undertook further study at the AA in London. They have gone on to build an enterprising practice which combines building design, urban planning, research, exhibiting and teaching.

Aljoša’s and Tina’s architectural interests and research have included systematic design processes, relationships between heritage and contemporary structures, experimental shelters, collective housing, the blending of design typologies and ‘compact’ housing. The practice first came to international attention in 2004 with the award-winning XXS ‘compact’ house in Ljubljana. Since then, Aljoša and Tina received the 2005 Wallpaper* award for ‘best breakthrough designers’, and in 2009 their metal-recycling plant, ODPAD, was shortlisted for the Mies van der Rohe Award and they also figured in the ‘40 under 40’ awards from the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. In 2013, two projects, Housing Perovo and KSEVT (Cultural Centre of EU Space Technologies) were nominated for the Mies van den Rohe Award, and in 2015, the compact Karst House was nominated for the same award.

Aljoša and Tina have been visiting lecturers and critics at numerous academic institutions, including the AA, Technical University Graz Austria, IUAV Venice, Berlin Academy of Arts and DWM Mexico. They have run summer school studios in London and Mexico, and mentored an acclaimed ‘nano-tourism’ design research group. In 2016, Dekleva Gregorič Arhitekti created Slovenia’s national exhibition at the Venice Architecture Biennale.
