France, Germany, the UK and other countries are trying to transition to a green economy, with different degrees of popular support. The French experience and the yellow vests movement have shown that such a transition needs to be done in an integrated way that takes into account its economic, social and environmental dimensions. Hosted by the UCL Global Governance Institute, this panel discussed what kind of governance, institutions and actors we need to make sure that such a transition is just and supported by citizens.
Panellists included Dr Isabell Kempf (UNDP-UNEP Poverty-Environment Action for SDGs, UN Environment), Steve Bass (Senior Associate, International Institute for Environment and Development), Paul Steele (Chief Economist, International Institute for Environment and Development), and Oliver Greenfield (Convener, Green Economy Coalition).
