Sheriff Bill Gore and Supervisor Dianne Jacob led a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Sheriff's Rancho San Diego Station today. The building is at the intersection of Campo Road and Jamacha Boulevard. The new Station will house 100 staff moving from the Lemon Grove Sheriff's Station. It will serve the communities of Rancho San Diego, Spring Valley, La Presa, Jamul, Casa De Oro, Mt. Helix, and unincorporated areas within La Mesa and El Cajon. The Lemon Grove Station will remain with a smaller contingent of staff contracted to serve the city. The building incorporates green features. Overall cost for the project is $17.5 million. Construction will begin in late November and with completion expected in the summer of 2013. The construction and design will create 250 jobs in the community.
