** Q & A **
New video alert!
In this week's Q & A, Little Ones™ founder Nicky explores the question "Why won't my baby nap at all?"
Napping is really important for babies and toddlers and if your baby isn’t napping at all (or very well), there is always a reason why:
° Overtiredness - cortisol is running through your baby's body, which makes them feel more alert and they find it hard to unwind and fall asleep.
° Equally undertiredness could be a reason your baby isn't napping. This could be because their awake windows are too short for their age, so they haven't been awake long enough to want to nap again.
° Sleep environment plays a big part in whether your baby is napping or not. Once your baby is over eight weeks old, they become a lot more aware of their surroundings, so if they're trying to nap in a bright room they can't because they are stimulated by the light.
° Hunger - If you can rule out everything else and your baby is still not settling to sleep, then try and feed them again because it might just be that they are hungry.
° Health issues - things like tongue or lip ties, severe wind and reflux can all wreak havoc with your baby’s napping and only by ruling out the factors above will these things become more obvious.
