Fr Ray begins with a wisdom story about transformation and then continues with putting the Transfiguration readings into their context. Finally, he summarizes the lessons we can draw from this description of a mountaintop experience:
1) The transfiguration of the Holy Mass, the transubstantiation, can strengthen us in our times of trials and strengthen us against temptation.
2) Each time we receive one of the sacraments, we are transformed.
3) The transformation gives us encouragement and hope. As we focus on the transformation and the sufferings of Christ, , we get the meaning and purpose of sharing those sufferings.
4) Mountaintop experience we share with Peter, John and James when we spend extra time in prayer and fasting. The hunger we experience from fasting can make us more willing to help the hungry. The crosses of our daily life can lead us to the glory of transfiguration and transformation.
