Adaawe is a six woman band sensation. The founder, Joselyn Wilkinson sings, writes and plays tama talking drum, djembe and conga drums, just to name a few. Anindo, hailing from Kenya, writes music for the group as well as bringing tons of exquisite harmonies and djembe rhythms. Bridget Graham is a featured vocalist, while Danya plays every kind of drum from djembe and conga. Monique Afenjar, from Morocco, holds down the foundation on the djun-djun and many other types of drums, while Phylliss Bailey Brooks is the group's other featured vocalist. Adaawe is an electrifying group. The group's choreography is graceful, their singing is wonderful and their drumming is nothing short of amazing. These women command the attention of their audiences.
