Renewal SA’s Works Program initiatives deliver benefits to the local community.
Recently we partnered with Junction Australia and TAFE SA Tonsley to improve the outdoor common area for Junction Australia’s community housing residents.
The program’s participants gained nationally-recognised qualifications in construction and horticulture, whilst beautifying the tenant’s garden area.
Let’s hear first-hand about the impact these programs have on all involved and the community.
Cody Stoeckel, Works Program graduate and City of Burnside apprentice: "The thing that was most appealing about the live training project was bringing everyone together; all the hands on experience. You're actually in there doing the work instead of just reading from a page."
David Delaney, community housing tenant: "The Works Program initiative was absolutely fantastic. The great thing for me about this, and for the residents here is, is bringing that interaction and that community spirit back into the complex."
Sarah Harding, Community Development Officer - Mitchell Park, Junction Australia: "I think the Works Program has changed the lives of people in this community. They've built relationships with one another; with Junction Australia; increase a sense of connection to their place."
Cody Stoeckel: "Thanks to the Works Program I'm working full-time studying in something I enjoy. I'm looking forward to exploring all the options that this apprenticeship has opened up.”
